Summer Trip: Hogle Zoo & Bear Lake

Friday morning we went to Hogle Zoo. It was both Madison and Shaylee's first time at the zoo, and they surely enjoyed it. Madison was excited for days leading up to Friday, and for her, the zoo didn't disappoint. In fact she got a little too excited running from exhibit to exhibit and fell and scraped her knees. It didn't phase her though. She saw everything from Elephants to Tigers to gorillas and enjoyed it all. The only part she truly struggled with at first was the carousel. which she screamed and screamed until the ride was about over and then she realized that she liked it and wanted to ride again!
After the zoo, we went to our hotel in downtown Salt Lake and relaxed. Madison really enjoyed watching the trains (Trax) go by our hotel window and so of course we had to go for a ride. It was Madison's first "train" ride. By the evening the kids were exhausted, so we went to bed.
Saturday morning we drove up to Bear Lake. When we got there we went to the cabin to look around. We had lunch there and then met up with Dave and Chelsie and Dave's family. We all went out on their boat (which was Alicia, Madi, and Shaylee's first boat ride) and went tubing. It was lots of fun and Madison had fun on the boat. Afterwards we went swimming at their pool and Madison really had fun swimming, where she would jump into the pool to me and then"swim" back to the side.
There are more pictures of this trip on our facebook...check them out!

Photos

Sorry we haven't posted for so long. The adjustment of having 2 kids and school and work has left very little time and motivation to keep the blog going, but here are some new pictures!

I was just looking through some of our old wedding photos and was struck yet again by the beauty of my wonderful wife! Isn't she just so pretty (no wonder I have such cute kids)!

Madison vs. Shaylee

So I was very curious to see how much I have grown with this pregnancy compared to my pregnancy with Madison. I had a picture taken of me when I was about 36 weeks along with Madison. So I had Mark take a picture of me last week which was when I was about 36 weeks along with Shaylee.

This is with Madison.

This is with Shaylee.

I didn't realize I was bigger this time than last time because I have gained less weight. I never believed my Mom when she told me you forget what things were like during previous pregnancies but now I guess I do.

2004 Until Now

Here is a very quick review of what we've been up to the past few years. On January 17, 2004 Alicia and I were married and 366 days later, 0n January 18, 2005 were sealed in the Salt Lake temple. Life has pretty much been a blur since then, we bought a condo in Lehi which we lived in for two years with our two pugs, lucky and princess, before selling up and buying a house in Payson, where we've been ever since. Life has mainly been filled with work and day-to-day events, but here are a few of the fun stand-out moments to date:

On May 23, 2006 Alicia gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Madison Acacia (5lbs 15oz). Madi has been a great addition to our family. Being a parent is very hard work, but it sure has its rewards. Seeing Madi grow and develop her very entertaining personality is a great source of joy. Alicia thinks that she will grow up to love the outdoors. It is already apparent that she loves animals. To date, Madison is approaching her second birthday and is a mumbling ball of energy. She's learning her numbers and letters and is well on her way to being potty trained! She loves to say her prayers and is making the trasition (us too) to nursery.

In May of 2005, we were able to take a cruise to Mexico with Ruth and Grant, and Aaron and Kristi compliments of a christmas present from Mom and Dad. It was Alicia's first time out of the country and was so much fun! We got to relax on a private beach and snorkel in Puerto Vallarta, tour the city of Mazatlan with our own personal tour guide, and shop the markets of Cabo San Lucas. Not to metion all-you-can-eat on the ship (one of my personal favorites)!

In August 2007, Madison took her very first trip to the beach. It was actually Bear Lake, but it works! She had a great time, she loved playing in the sand and crawling in the water. It was a lot of fun for us to hang out with the family and enjoy a day at the beach! The very next day, however, we unloaded madi on Mom and Dad, and Alicia and I ran for Las Vegas for the weekend. We saw the shark reef exibit at the mandalay bay, went to the top of the stratosphere, and lounged by the pool. It was nice to get away.

And that quickly brings us to our present day. Life is still a blur...I'm forging my way through school and am working towards getting an MBA. I'm still working at Provo Canyon School as the Nightwatch Supervisor, Alicia is the vault teller at Utah Community Credit union.
